Whether you’re a listener, performer, or composer, at some point you want to understand how music really works. You want to learn the secrets that make it so moving, so emotional. Enter music theory, the most exciting pursuit for music lovers.

In this course, we’re first going to explore the “why” behind the symbols and rules. Why is music written on horizontal lines? Why do we need different clefs? Why are there only 7 note names, but 12 different notes? There are secrets to these questions that give you access to the emotion in music. And we’re going to find them. Once you do, those symbols and all the seeming contradictions in music theory begin to make sense.
That’s why I’m calling this course the Secrets of Music Theory. To give you an understanding of basic music theory by first discovering the reasons behind those basics.
